About Our Farm

Mystic Moon Farm is nestled deep within the beautiful rolling hills of southern Vermont, on 1,000 acres of pristine woods, streams, and lush pastures. Three historic farms on the property are home to Icelandic horses and a herd of show quality llamas. Tucked in beside a picturesque apple orchard and surrounded by acres of stately maple trees is one of Vermont’s best loved and most photographed maple sugar houses.

Sugaring...

In the spring, when the crows begin to caw and the streams begin to run again, the sap rises in the trees. Maple syrup is made by tapping sugar maple trees, collecting the sap in sap buckets, carrying it to the sugar house in large collecting tanks, and boiling the slightly sweet sap down until it is very sweet syrup. 40 gallons of sap and many hours of boiling - are required to produce one gallon of maple syrup. Our sap is still boiled in the good old traditional fashion - over a roasting wood fire.

Look for our sugarhouse in the March/April 2010 issue of the Vermont Magazine!
